What is the difference between a Psychologist, Psychiatrist, and Psychotherapist?
The difference between a Psychologist, Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist is the training and approaches they use. Psychotherapists use several talking therapies to assist in their work similar to Psychologists. Psychologists, however, have a degree and often a Masters or Doctorate in Psychology, they also tend to use psychometrics to support their approach. Psychiatrists are trained medical doctors who have gone on to specialised in mental health; they are also able to prescribe medication. Here at the Bloomsbury Therapy Practice, we are highly qualified Psychologists, we are accredited or members of a UK regulatory or governing body.

Are the sessions confidential?
Yes, we provide a safe and confidential space where any issues can be explored. If we believe you are a risk to yourself or someone else we may need to breach confidentiality.

How long is a session?
Our sessions are 50 minutes long. However, EMDR sessions can be 90 minutes long, depending on the issue.

How many sessions do I need to have?
At the Bloomsbury Therapy Practice, we offer a number of services, from long term to short term therapy. The number of sessions depends entirely on your personal situation and presenting issues. At the initial session your therapist will discuss with you, what you are looking to get out of the sessions and your personal treatment plan and together you can decide how many sessions may be suitable for your needs.

What is the cancellation policy?
Please contact us as soon as possible to let us know if you would like to cancel or unable to attend an appointment. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice or non-attended appointments will be charged at the full rate.

How do I pay for a session?
You pay in full at the end of each session by either cash or a bank transfer. We do not accept credit or debit card payments at present.
